Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Amen.

Credo in Spiritum Sanctum,
sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum communionem,
remissionem peccatorum,
carnis resurrectionem,
vitam aeternam.
Amen.

Apostles Creed in Spanish

Creo en Dios, Padre todopoderoso, creador del Cielo y de la Tierra.
Creo en Jesucristo su único Hijo, Nuestro Señor,
que fue concebido por obra y garcia del Espíritu Santo;
nació de Santa María Virgen;
padeció bajo el poder de Poncio Pilato;
fue crucificado, muerto y sepultado;
descendió a los infiernos;
al tercer día resucitó de entre los muertos;
subió a los cielos y está a la diestra de Dios Padre;
desde allí ha de venir a juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos.
Creo en el Espíritu Santo, en la Santa Iglesia Católica,
la comumión de los Santos en el perdon de los pecados
la resurrección de los muertos y la vida eterna.
Amén.

 Apostles Creed Definition and Meaning

The purpose of the Apostles’ Creed is to pay heed to the apostles, and give them the respect that’s deserved.  The legend goes that each apostle of Jesus contributed a piece to the Creed.  There is no known evidence to support this considering the first appearance of this creed was in the middle of the second century.  This poses another question – If this legend is true, who contributed what?  This question doesn’t really require an answer, but I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who would love to know.

The Apostles’ Creed is to be recited to reaffirm one’s faith in God and Jesus.  It states each of the core beliefs that Jesus was the Son of God and that he died for our sins.  Now He resides in heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  If you are Catholic, and someone asks you, “What do you believe in?”  Your response should be the Apostles’ Creed.

The Apostles Creed is one of the core prayers for Christians around the world.  It is a commonly used prayer that dates back to the earliest days of the Church.  It has helped give strength to Christians persecuted everywhere.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]
