The Catholic Church teaches that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the greatest of all saints and that she is worthy of the highest honor and veneration. This is based on the belief that she was chosen by God to be the mother of His son, Jesus, and that she lived a life of great holiness. As a result of her unique relationship with Jesus and her special role in salvation history, Catholics believe that Mary is able to intercede on their behalf with her son, Jesus.

Catholics see Mary as a powerful and loving mother who is concerned for the well-being of her children on earth. They believe that she is willing to help them when they ask for her intercession and that she can offer them guidance and protection as a mother would for her child. As a result, many Catholics turn to Mary in times of need, asking her to intercede with her son on their behalf.

Praying to Mary is not considered to be idol worship, as Catholics believe that Mary is only a mediator and not a goddess, and that the worship of God is still the ultimate goal. The role of Mary in Catholicism is much like the role of saints in general, and praying to Mary is seen as asking for the intercession of a powerful friend in heaven. This is the main reason why Catholic devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus is widely accepted and accepted as a normal and a traditional religious devotion.

In addition to this, there are many different prayers and devotions that Catholics use to honor and ask for the intercession of Mary. These include the Rosary, a devotion in which Catholics recite prayers while meditating on the life of Jesus and the role of Mary, and the Hail Mary, a prayer that asks for Mary’s intercession and protection. Catholics also honor Mary on special feast days throughout the year, such as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the Feast of the Assumption.

In Conclusion, Catholic Church teaches that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the greatest of all saints and that she is worthy of the highest honor and veneration. This is based on the belief that she was chosen by God to be the mother of His son, Jesus, and that she lived a life of great holiness. Catholics believe that Mary is able to intercede on their behalf with her son, Jesus and see her as a powerful and loving mother who is concerned for the well-being of her children on earth. They ask for her intercession and guidance through prayers and devotions.

What Does the Bible Say About Haters?

[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]

What Does the Bible Really Say About Haters?

Love them.  What?  To some this response might seem a bit confusing.  Why would I want to love people who hate me?  Because Jesus told you to.  “But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,” (Luke 6:27).   It is so contradictory.  Have you ever gotten into a situation where someone would say something, you would say something back, and then it just escalated into a much worse situation?  Of course you have.  Everyone has.  Now imagine if you went back to that situation.  Let’s say someone said something to you that they knew bothered you.  Instead of retaliating just imagine if you either said nothing at all by turning the other cheek, or by just replying with a remark that isn’t complimenting their hostility.  The situation could have defused very quickly.  This person may even leave you alone forever.  They may even become your friend.  Who knows.  A lot of times haters are miserable people.  It could be someone who just acts this way to push others away out of fear of abandonment or being hurt.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”glow” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”3px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”none” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

When in Doubt, Turn to the Bible

“If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you.” (John 15:18)  Hateful people are going to hate.  It’s in their nature.  Those that hate God will hate you.  These people have fallen far from His message.  They feel abandoned by Him, and are lead astray by Lucifer and his devious ways.  It can be frustrating, but the best way to bring these people back is to love them.  Do not fight hatred with hate.  This is Jesus offering some comfort as well.  “You are not alone.”

“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.” (Luke 21:17)  Just for following God you will be hated by some.  You may be hated by Muslims, Atheists, Pagans, etc., because you don’t believe what they believe.  I’m not saying that all of these people will be haters, but there will definitely be some.  And guess what?  Love them.

Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5:8).  The last (but definitely not the least) hater we need to worry about is Lucifer.  He is the master of lies and king of hate.  So many have fallen to his ways.  We need to remain defiant in the face of evil.  God is the only true Redeemer and through Him we are saved.

It doesn’t matter about your past with this hater.  It doesn’t matter if this is a recurring issue or a one time thing.  You need to remember that they are trying to get you to do the opposite of what Jesus wants.  These haters want to start something, and the last thing you want to do is fall into their trap.  Remain loyal to Jesus’ message, and love them.  They have gone astray, and only Jesus’ love can bring them back.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

Proverbs 9-8[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]

Don’t be a Hypocrite

Don’t wind up becoming the hater.  There are those out there that think because they are Christian they have the right to hate on others because of their beliefs or way of life.  These choices that these individuals make is between them and God.  Don’t hate them because they are different than you.  Treat others how you want to be treated.  This is the Golden Rule which will help you live a good life.

Here is some wisdom from the old testament.  “Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate thee: Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.”  (Proverbs 9:8).  Proverbs is an incredible book, and I suggest that everyone reads it.  Don’t create any more haters by fiercely criticizing sinners.  Criticizing them doesn’t help you or them.  It is up to them to realize what they have done wrong and turn back to God.  This wouldn’t fall to far from being hypocritical in creating another person who’s full of hate.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

How to stop judging others and be accepting?

[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

So how do I stop judging others and become more accepting?

Please see the post titled The Golden Rule.  And this concludes the article…

Okay so not quite.  It should end there, but it never does.  As cliche as this may be but ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”  One of the two ways we need to live our life – Do to others what you would want them to do to you. (Luke 6:31 DRA).  Think about what an amazing place this wold be if everyone followed this rule.  Next time you are about to judge someone think about it this way.  Would you want others to judge you?  I think the reply to this question would be a resounding, “No.”  I’m not talking about the way you’re are perceived by others.  I’m talking about you in your entirety consisting both of what people know about you and what they don’t know about you.  We’ve all made mistakes.  I sure have made them and so have you.

I don’t want to be judged, and if I’m going to be judged by anyone it’s going to be God.  May I add that when this day comes it’s going to be a terrifying moment.  I’ve asked for forgiveness a million times, but there are always parts of me that wonder if I’m worthy of God’s forgiveness.  This brings me to my next point.  Let God do the judging.  Jesus made it pretty clear when he said, “Judge not, that you may not be judged, for with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.  And why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye?” (Matthew 7:1-3 DRA).  The nerve people have to judge whether a person is going to hell or not.  Sometimes people need to shut their mouth, and focus on bettering themselves and their relationship with God.  Leave the judgement up to God, and God alone.

Casting judgement never helps a situation either.  There is never a time when this is good for a situation being that it could wind up escalating.  Sometimes it’s good to offer advice for future situations but not judgement.  There is a fine line between the two.  “Maybe that wasn’t such a great idea,” might be something to say just to make it known that what was done wasn’t good.  Sometimes people don’t realize what they did even after the fact.  “You’re a bad person,” would be judgement.  Okay, so no one is going to be that forward with judgement in a situation like this, but it’s to make an honest point.  Well, I guess I shouldn’t say that.  I’m sure a few of you might have grandparents like that. ;)[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]

Don’t Cast Stones!

This leads me to another reference regarding judgement.  This is probably the most famous remark made by Jesus.  “When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”  (John 8:7 DRA).  Talk about putting someone in their place.  This ends the situation.  We’re all sinners of varying degrees.  We all fall short of God.

Another reason to stop judging people is because you have absolutely no idea what that person has been through.  Even if you do know all the circumstances of why a person did something or is the person they are, you still aren’t them, and you can never be in their shoes.  I always try to see from other’s perspectives, but I will never know their perspective.  This can seem a bit daunting to think about, but you can’t say something like, “If this would have happened to me, I would have handled it this way.”  We are all wired differently and something that happened to someone else may affect them much differently than it does to you.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. John 8:7[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

Defeating Depression with God by Your Side

[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]Well, it’s another one of those days.  Depression makes waking up difficult.  I procrastinate.  I have trouble with my friends and family.  Our demons come in plenty of forms.  Whether it is oneself or some outside force, we all have obstacles to get past.  Depression is an incredible burden.  It’s a burden I, and millions of others, have to bear.

We need to think about the terrible things Jesus went through to save us.  He carried the means of His own execution.  Now that’s an incredible burden to bear.  I think something that would help all of us put everything into perspective is to compare our suffering to others.  I don’t mean it as some kind of competition or anything like that.  That would be the last kind of competition anyone would want to win.  There will always be someone out there who has it way worse than you… always.

Lets say you are having a difficult time waking up and staring your day.  Well guess what, there is someone out there who can’t get out of bed.  Not only could this be a psychological issues but a physical impairment.  That person has it much worse than you do.  This could extend to any difficulty that you’re having.  If you can’t think of anyone, think Job.  It’s important to realize that we all have our own set of tests and temptations to endure.  This will ensure our entry into God’s kingdom.

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]Alright.  So you’re doing a little comparing?  Remember that you always have God to reinforce your life.  Talk to Him.  He’ll listen.  If things don’t get better right away, be patient.  He will decide when the time is right.  You have to put your faith in Him.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).

Don’t let what other people say affect you.  Sometimes others get enjoyment out of the misery of others.  You need to avoid these people.  Others get upset and lash out.  Don’t let what they say bother you.

These methods almost always work for me, but at other times, things can appear bleak.  Its always be good to speak with someone else such as a family member, good friend, or a professional.  God listens, but he answers in mysterious ways.  Sometimes we might not realize that he answered us until long into the future.

This will be a common topic as it’s something I suffer with.  Sometimes it can be really tough and other times, not so much.  So if you ever wonder why I disappear here and there, that’s probably why.  God gives me strength, but sometimes doing the things I like, like blogging for example, becomes difficult.  It’s a tough journey, but with Jesus by my side, I know that I can get through it.

Thanks for reading.  I always appreciate that someone would take the time out of their day to read something I put out there.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text][/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

Trinity Christian College

“If we begin with Christ and continue with Christ, we have the assurance that we will be blessed.”
–Junior College Society newsletter, 1956–

Trinity Christian College was established in Palos Heights, Illinois in 1959 by a group of young Christian businessmen who have always encouraged Christian living.  The college was founded as a Christian Reformed college, but they accept all people of Christian faith.  It began as a two-year college, but twelve years after it was founded, Trinity had its first baccalaureate recipient in May of 1971.

Trinity Christian College began with most students focusing on English and theology, but now it offers 80 different programs ranging from nursing to education.  The adult accelerated learning course was launched in 1999 in the fields of business, education, psychology, and special education.

Trinity Christian resides about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.  It offers both an undergraduate and graduate degrees especially suited for those focusing on the field of education.  There are accelerated courses designed for students to receive their professional educator license in two years.  Trinity Christian College also offers a special education degree which can be completed in 2.5 years if the individual has prior college credit.

Wheaton College

“For Christ and His Kingdom”

-Wheaton College Motto-

Wheaton College was established in 1860 in Wheaton, Illinois by Jonathan Blanchard.  This makes Wheaton one of the oldest colleges in Illinois.  The college was originally called the Illinois Institute but was later changed to Wheaton because of the generous land donation by Warren L. Wheaton.  Shortly after the establishment of Wheaton College, the United States plunged into civil war, and many students went to war in favor of the abolitionist movement.

The school has always been pushing for social reform.  Since its inception, it has been a liberal arts college and continues to be one today.  The mission statement proclaims that “Wheaton College serves Jesus Christ and advances His Kingdom through excellence in liberal arts and graduate programs…”  They consider themselves to be non-denominational Christian.

Wheaton College offers many degrees from ancient languages to urban studies.  The education to note though is the overabundance of masters degrees in the field of Christianity which includes Biblical Archaeology, Christian Formation & Ministry, theology, History of Christianity, and many others.  If someone was looking into pursuing Christianity as a degree, this would be the place.

Wheaton College has received high praises from organizations such as Business Insider, Kiplinger’s, and 2016 U.S. News & World Report to name a few.  The Insider’s Guide to the Colleges 2015 has even said, “Wheaton students… deeply value the way Wheaton has shaped them intellectually and spiritually.”

Trinity International University

Trinity International University’s history is a bit different than most of the other colleges in Illinois.  Its creation can be traced back to 1897 where the Swedish Evangelical Free Church began a Bible course in the basement of a Chicago church.  In 1910, the department that founded the school withdrew and created the Norwegian-Danish Bible Institute and Academy.  After leaving they decided that Minnesota would be their home.  They first chose Rushford and then later moved to Minneapolis.  During the late 1940s they merged with a Norwegian-Danish school to create Trinity Seminary and Bible College, and wound up finding themselves back in Chicago.

The college and seminary in the 1960s decided to move to Deerfield, Illinois where the college and seminary remains today.  In 1992 the Miami Christian College was changed to Trinity College at Miami.  Trinity International eventually became the name of the school after the merge of Trinity College, Trinity College at Miami, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  It appears that Deerfield will be the final move for Trinity International.

They are Evangelical Christian which is a branch of Christianity that is part of the trans-denominational movement within Protestantism.  Their mission statement reads, “As an institution committed to inerrant Scripture, given by God as our final authority for faith and life, we hold ourselves accountable to it and to each other with regard to these values as we cultivate academic excellence, Christian faithfulness, and lifelong learning.”

Trinity International University offer a wide arrange of classes and degrees.  The school even has online classes for business, Christian ministries, criminal justice, and psychology.  They even offer an online masters program for Bioethics.  The only issue is that there are a couple degrees that are only available on their Florida campus.

Greenville College

Greenville College had a history in Illinois long before its actual establishment.  Stephen Morse left New England and moved to Greenville, Illinois in the mid-nineteenth century where he met Almira Blanchard.  After her passing, he received an inheritance which was used to establish Almira College.  This college was founded on Baptist Christian principles and was strictly female students.  23 years later James Slade became the owner and implemented a co-ed institution.

A few more decades went by and the lay leaders of the Free Methodist Church purchased Almira College and reincorporated under the Greenville College Corporation.  The first graduate was in 1898.  The college has only had twelve presidents in a 110-year history.  Now that definitely says something about the leadership.

Greenville College remains a Free Methodist institution.  Their education promotes a “Christ-centered education in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies.”

Greenville offers over 70 degrees to choose from.  These degrees are anything from Jewish-Christian studies to a masters in marketing.  This is perfect for someone who wants to go to a Christian college or university but wants a wide variety of career choices.  One of the things that makes Greenville College especially unique is the size of the campus.  The campus is a mere 14-acres compared to some of the other colleges and universities which can be much larger.  This can be both good or bad depending on what size college you are looking for.

Judson University

Judson University is a branch of the Northern Theological Seminary.  The leaders, at the time, thought it would be better if the college became its own entity separate from the seminary.  The college was founded in 1963 on the Fox River in Elgin, Illinois.  Judson College got its name from Adoniram Judson who was the first missionary abroad.  He spent 37 years outside of the country.  Adoniram only returned once.  Judson College became Judson University in 2007.

In the college’s lengthy history it has had only a handful of presidents.  The longest serving president was Dr. Harm A Weber.

The campus started off being very small at about 19 acres and have grown to over 90 acres since.

Judson University is of Evangelical Christian denomination that offers more than 65 majors, minors, and concentrations for those going for liberal arts, sciences, and professions.  They also have continuing education for non-traditional students.  This school might be a better option for a person choosing architecture as their career.  Judson has a few different options than the other Christian colleges in Illinois.

Judson has received attention from U.S. News and World Report as a Top Tier college in the Midwest.  They have also been viewed as a Military Friendly school from 2013-2016.

Christian College in Chicago – North Park University

North Park University was founded over 100 years ago by the Evangelical Covenant Church.  Unfortunately, when it comes to Chicago Christian colleges and universities, there isn’t much to choose from.  I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with North Park.  There just isn’t many options.  This is the only Christian university in Chicago.  Despite most of Chicago being relatively crowded, the campus is a decent size with 33 acres to call their own.  Seeing as the university is residing in one of the largest cities in the United States this provides an interesting dynamic to Christian education.

North Park has always promoted diversity.  The university is also very open to people of all creeds.  They have acknowledged that anyone who values education is welcome.  All teachers and professors are successful and all lead Christian lives.

North Park University offers a wide variety of degrees.  The school is mostly known for their focus on both the medical and humanities field.  They offer quite a selection of Masters programs as well.  Most of the graduate programs have less than 20 students which allows for a much more personal experience.  They also pride themselves on being affordable by stating on their website that North Park costs almost $10,000 less than the national average for a four-year college.

Olivet Nazarene University

-“We believe you belong here.”-

There isn’t much known about the creation of Olivet except that it was funded by a group of families that wanted a higher Christian education.  Olivet Nazarene University was founded in 1907 in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

The university is massive.  It boasts 275 acres with about the same amount of students as North Park University.  Olivet also has other sites in Rolling Meadows and Oak Brook.  There are also locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Indianapolis, Indiana.  Unlike the rest of the Christian colleges and universities in Illinois, Olivet also has a presence in Hong Kong.

Olivet Nazarene University follows the service of the Church of the Nazarene, theologically grounded in the Wesleyan tradition.

The list of courses and degrees offered by Olivet is truly staggering.  The university offers anything from an associates to a doctoral degree.  These degrees cover nearly 120 fields of study organized into seven schools and one college.  Students also have an opportunity to study in many different locations such as China, Russia, and Uganda to name a few.

Who is Edom in the Bible?

Who is Edom in the Bible?

It isn’t so much as to, “Who is Edom?”  It really is more of a question of, “What was Edom?”  Then again, if you really wanted to ask the question of “Who is Edom?” I guess one could respond, “Esau.”  According to the Hebrew Bible he was the progenitor of the Edomites.  Edom was a nation south of the Kingdom of Judah which consisted of a Semitic people.  The area was under control by the Edomites for approximately 1,200 years.  According to the Bible, the nation was vast stretching from the Sinai peninsula to the Kadesh Barnea.  It is thought by historians that the area was controlled by the Edomites from about 1400 – 200 BC where they were eventually conquered by the Seleucid Empire.  Antiochus III the Great more than likely ordered this attack.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]Years later, when Nebuchadnezzar II ruled Babylon, the Edomites helped the Babylonians loot Jerusalem while slaughtering the inhabitants.  Due to the brutality of the Edomites the prophets resented Edom and spoke against the nation often.  It has often been a bumpy road between the Israelites and the Edomites throughout history.  Obadiah is one such prophet who foresees the destruction of the Edomites.  God punishes them for not getting along with their brothers, the House of Jacob.  Other prophets who speak of Edom’s destruction include Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Malachi.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

Where is Edom Now?

Edom was mostly of what is now modern day Jordan.  There were periods in history where the Edomites inhabited of what is part of modern day Israel as well.  No one is really sure what happened to the Edomite bloodline.  I’m not really sure if anyone would run to this claim due to the hatred and animosity towards the Edomite people.  They have been sworn enemies of the Israelites for thousands and thousands of years.  There are some who may claim that it is the Palestinians or some other enemy of Israel, but there is no real evidence that supports this position.

Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.

Who is Queen Esther in the Bible

Queen Esther is a Jewish queen from the Old Testament.  She is the central character in the Book of Esther which was thought to be written by Mordecai, her cousin.  She was the queen of King Ahasuerus who is thought to be either King Xerxes I or Darius I of ancient Persia.  Esther became the queen after Ahasuerus exiled Vashti, the first queen, for refusing to show her beauty to his guests.  After Vashti was exiled he requested that women from all over the kingdom be brought before him.  Out of all of those maidens he chose Esther to be his queen.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]Mordecai learned of a plot by two servants to kill Ahasuerus.  He reported the plot and it was foiled by the authorites.  Shortly after the assassination plot was reported Haman, a high ranking official, asked Mordecai to prostrate himself before him.  Modecai refused and Haman, filled with rage, ordered that the Jews are to be exterminated.  He was willing to pay a large sum of money for their destruction.  Mordecai filled with distraught went to see Queen Esther, his cousin, to speak with the king regarding their fate.  Normally one was not be allowed to see the king unless summoned.  It would be a sign of great disrespect and one could be put to death for this infraction.  Despite this risk, Esther invited the king and Haman to a banquet.  They both accepted.  Towards the end of the night Esther invited them both to another event the following evening which they accepted.  Shortly after the banquet, Haman ordered the construction of gallows to hang Mordecai for his insolence.

The next day Queen Esther revealed to both Haman and King Ahasuerus that she was a Jew.  When the king hears of this he orders Haman’s execution for giving the order to murder the Jews in the kingdom.  King Ahasuerus also announces that the opposite of the original order will be given.  The Jews were given the authority to kill any of their enemies, so 75,000 Persians were killed over the next two days.  Mordecai was also appointed as a high ranking government official.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

Who is the Holy Spirit in the Bible?

[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none” last=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all”][fusion_text]

Who is the Holy Spirit in the Bible?

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity – equal and one in the same with both the Son and the Father.  It is denoted as the third part of the Holy Trinity.  Most Christians hold this belief that the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are one in the same.  The belief in the Trinity was adopted very early in the Church, and was mentioned by bishops as early as 100AD.  There has been many mentions of the Holy Spirit in the Bible.  According to some sources it is mentioned up to 90 times.

One could think of the Holy Spirit as the essence of God.  It’s still God, but in a different form.  The Holy Spirit appears many times throughout the Bible.  Pentecost would probably be the most familiar to just about everyone.  Other occasions in which the Holy Spirit appeared was the baptism and temptation of Jesus Christ.

While being baptized by John, the Bible mentions that the Spirit of God came from heaven in the physical form of a dove and descended upon Jesus.  This was the first of the five major milestones in Jesus’s life and began His ministry to the people.  Despite being referred to quite often as the ‘Spirit of God’ most people of the Christian faith believes that this refers to the ‘Holy Spirit,’ and that’s how it is normally read or taught.

After Jesus’s baptism the Holy Spirit lead Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil.  During this time Jesus’s fasted for forty days and forty nights.  He was tempted by the devil three times, He refuted the devil’s temptations, and then returned to Galilee.[/fusion_text][fusion_code]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[/fusion_code][fusion_text]There are times when the Acts of the Apostles is referred to as the “Book of the Holy Spirit.”  Not only is the Holy Spirit mentioned throughout the book, but It is also responsible for giving the apostles the power to defend Christianity throughout the kingdom.  The Holy Spirit is mentioned about fifty-five times in the Acts of the Apostles.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]Any time that the Holy Spirit is mentioned it is typically referred to as a dove or fire.  This is an indication that, like God, the Holy Spirit is both peaceful and powerful.  Other names of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament include Spirit of God, Spirit of Hashem, and Spirit of Wisdom.  In the New Testament the Holy Spirit was referred to as Spirit of Christ, Spirit of Truth, and Paraclete.  In three of the Gospels, Jesus says that any blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin.

The Holy Spirit is something special and assists us in our daily lives.  It bestows the attributes we need to maintain a healthy relationship with both God and the people around us.  It gives us the attributes of wisdom, strength, and understanding.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_3″ layout=”1_3″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=”” min_height=””][fusion_text]

Who Was Obadiah in the Bible?

Obadiah is viewed throughout Christianity as an Old Testament minor prophet who wrote the Book of Obadiah.  He was a Canaanite born in the city of Shechem.  The name Obadiah means “servant of God.”  The book concerns Obadiah’s vision in which he is shown the destruction of Edom which was the region south of the Kingdom of Judah.  God states that Edom is being punished for its arrogance and refusal to cooperate with the House of Jacob.

The book is very short.  It is one chapter that consists of twenty-one verses.  This is one of the reasons he is attributed to be a minor prophet.  It is the shortest book in the Hebrew Bible and third shortest in the Catholic Bible.

Scholars think that his ministry was about 590 BC.

Feast Days for Obadiah

He is viewed as a saint by many Eastern Churches.  His feast day is Tobi 15 of the Coptic Orthodox Church.  This falls on either January 23rd or 24th of the Gregorian calendar.  The celebration for both the Eastern Catholic and Eastern Orthodox is December 2nd of the Gregorian calendar.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]
